Faith Hamilton Obituary: Faith Renee Hamilton, 16, Mourned After Tragic Death in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, MI — Faith Renee Hamilton, a 16-year-old girl from Monroe County, has been identified as one of two teenagers found dead Tuesday morning in Raisinville Township, in a heartbreaking case that has shaken the local community.

Faith and another teenager, 16-year-old Landon Bryan Lafond, were discovered near a parked vehicle along Heiss Road. A concerned family member used a phone tracking app to locate them after they had not been heard from, leading to the tragic discovery around 10 a.m.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, both teens died from gunshot wounds. Preliminary evidence suggests the incident may have been planned, with writings found in the vehicle indicating intent. Authorities believe Faith was the victim and Landon the suspected shooter, although the investigation remains active and ongoing.

“This remains a sensitive and developing case,” said Sheriff Goodnough. “We are waiting on autopsy results and further evidence before drawing final conclusions.”

Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the case will be classified as a murder-suicide. It is also unclear who drove the vehicle to the location or how Faith arrived there.

The tragedy has led local schools to take immediate action. Crisis response teams and grief counselors have been made available at Bedford Township Schools and Airport Community Schools, offering support to students and staff.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about Faith Hamilton or the events leading up to her death to come forward as they continue to gather facts and piece together the timeline.

Faith’s sudden loss has deeply affected the community, with classmates, teachers, and neighbors expressing sorrow and disbelief. As Monroe County grieves, many are left mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
